Val-de-Travers, an enterprising region

By the beginning of the 19th century, the Val-de-Travers valley already underwent impressive industrial development. The region has proven for a long time that it is innovative and open to the world. Like other valleys of the Jura, it is overwhelmingly export-oriented.

Its economic patterns as well as its cultural and architectural heritage are closely connected to the industry. But the area still offers its population a complete variety of services comparable to those of a town.

Also to be mentioned is an ever-developing tourism industry with the result that, in terms of jobs, the tertiary sector has replaced the industrial sectors.
